Read Me File for Disk Manager 6.03C Patch: DMPATCH.EXE
This patch is a subset of the Disk Manager 6.03C. To use it, run
'DMCFIG /U' at the DOS command line. It will then update the
Dynamic Drive Overlay and/or the DMDRVR.BIN and XBIOS.OVL files
to version 6.03C. In a Windows 95 environment it will also modify
the SYSTEM.INI file to remove WDCDRV.386 if it has been inadvertently
installed in this environment.
It includes the following files from the standard 6.03C release:
dmcfig.exe
dmcfig.ocs
xbios.ovl
ddloader.bin
wdcdrv.386
dmdrvr.bin
readme.1st ** this file **
and Windows NT and OS/2 support files:
atdisk.sys
atdisk.txt
nt.txt
ibm1s506.add
ibmidecd.flt
os2asd.dmd
os2.txt
These files contain the most up-to-date Disk Manager drivers for:
* Windows 95
* Windows NT 3.5x
* OS/2 2.1x and WARP
and they also fixes numerous issues with IBM PS/1 Value Point machines.
The following is a procedure for updating your Western Digital v6.03
diskette and installation with these new drivers.
TO INSTALL DISK MANAGER.
1. Backup the data on your hard drive. A Disk Manager install will
destroy any and all previous data on the drive.
2. Make a working copy of your Western Digital Disk Manager version
6.03, 6.03a or 6.03b and replace the DDLOADER.BIN, and XBIOS.OVL
files with the new ones.
3. To install the drive from scratch, run DM.EXE and select Easy Disk
Installation from the Disk Manager Main Menu. Disk Manager will then
completely install the hard drive and make it ready for your data.
DISK MANAGER UPGRADE PROCEDURE:
If the drive was installed by Western Digital version 6.03, 6.03a or
6.03b and only an upgrade is desired, follow the procedure listed below.
1. Backup the data on your hard drive. This is designed to be a
nondestructive process, but... sometimes accidents do happen.
2. Make a working copy of your Western Digital Disk Manager version
6.03, 6.03a, or 6.03b and replace the DDLOADER.BIN and XBIOS.OVL files
with the new ones.
3. Run DMCFIG/U to upgrade the Disk Manager drivers on your hard
drive.
OS/2 AND WINDOWS-NT INSTALLATION PROCEDURES:
There are two text files called OS2.TXT and NT.TXT that explain the
installation procedures for OS/2 versions 2.1x and 3.0 (Warp) and
Windows-NT versions 3.5 and 3.51.
